If you want to resize a large photo you have to take the correct precautions to prevent losing too much resolution. Making an image smaller can make it appear blurry if you don't do it right. I use the "Save for Web" command for greater control and more precise optimization. It's found in the File menu just below the "Save As…" item. The "Save for Web" window offers a variety of choices.
